Product Description
The production process of hot dipped galvanized steel wire rope is to immerse the wire which has been derusted into the molten zinc solution to coat the surface with zinc. Compared with the electric one, it is more antirust and corrosion-resistant and has thicker zinc-coat which all lead to a longer service life.
For example,6x19+FC-12.7mm(nominal diameter of wire is 0.81mm),when it is electric galvanized ,the thickness of the zinc-coat is only 10-15g/mm2. However when it is a hot dipped one, the minimum mass of zinc coating will vary by different standards as below:
In ISO2408-2004, the minimum mass of zinc coating is 60g/mm2 in Class B.
In GB/T 20118-2006: it's 66g/mm2 in Class B.
In BS EN 10264-2:2012: it's 75g/mm2 in Class B.
In API SPEC 9A: it's 60g/mm2 in Class B.
Hot dipped galvanized steel wire ropes are made from carbon steel as the raw material. Usually, high-carbon steels such as 60#, 70#, and 80% are used, with a carbon content ranging from 0.6% to 0.8%. Through the cold drawing process, their strength is enhanced, and the tensile strength can reach 1570N/mm2 to 2160N/mm2. In some cases, elements like manganese and silicon are added to improve toughness, which is used in extreme environments such as mines and ships.
